Aye. Who are we kidding. We had ONE restaurant under contract as a valet parking client. You better believe we were grateful but it just wasn’t enough. We were ambitious and motivated and we wanted to build an empire of valet parking chains to take over the world!!!….or something like that. As we prepared offer after offer and begged for meetings and did everything we possibly could to get contracts with other businesses in town..we just..couldn’t. Getting stood up, ignored and brushed off was our normal day to day. The struggle was real.
We finally hit a wall. We needed to supplement our income by, somehow, using our current resources to generate more revenue but no clear answer was in sight.
Then all of a sudden our phones started to ring. And to be clear, our phones NEVER rang. Never. Not for business reasons anyway.
To our astonishment the caller on the phone was interested in booking our services. After pouring on the charm and giving an almost break even price, we had booked our very first shuttle service!!
I’m sure you’re asking yourself, “WAIT A MINUTE, I thought this was a valet parking company.” And to that, you are right. But again, we were living on a shoestring budget and we weren’t going to let money just walk away from us. Any opportunity was a good one and we welcomed it with open arms.
Pretty soon we were booking a couple shuttle service gigs a month. It wasn’t much but it was something at least. We never advertised for it and to this day still aren’t sure how the clients found their way to us but we sure were happy they did. It was at this point we decided to take on the name “Lowcountry Valet & Shuttle Company”.
